February is Cushion Month

It hadn’t really dawned on me till yesterday that I seemed to have a few cushion classes on the go in February, so I have christened February to be ‘Cushion Month’. In each class there is a set of different techniques for you to learn.

February 1st – the girls on the ‘Lets Sew’ course are doing their first patchwork cushion. It has a simple envelope back, as the main focus will be how to piece the front together as accurately as possible. The whole thing can usually be done during the 3 hour class.

A Beginner’s Patchwork Cushion

February 6th and 13th‘Squirrel Cushion’ is a cute design that introduces you to patchwork and embroidery. This is a double workshop to enjoy over two Saturday afternoons. We will make the centre patch on the first day and put the cushion together on the second. Designed by myself each person receives a printed copy of the pattern to keep. How nice would this look sat in a caravan, or as a focal point on your favourite chair? (Beginners are welcome).

February 11th – A ‘Pretty Piped and Zipped Cushion‘. It’s a brand new workshop which I’m holding over 4 hours, so bring some lunch. Find out all about bias binding, then make some of your own to add the bias trim. Find out how to add a patch pocket and finish with a concealed zip. Four techniques for you in one class. (Beginner to intermediate level).

February 22nd and 29th – We are making a shabby pair of ‘Tea – Time cushions’. This is another double workshop over two consecutive Mondays, but there is the option of coming to a day class or an evening class. It’s also another ‘Raggy Robin’ design which includes a copy of the printed pattern and it teaches you how to applique with the sewing machine. (This class is more for the confident sewer).

Then you will already need to know how to use a sewing machine. If you don’t know how to use a machine then try the ‘machine class’ first. This is running on the 4th February. When booking a supply list for the appropriate class will be sent to you. If you can’t make the date or time of your preferred cushion class, check the other dates coming up or keep watching the site as classes are rotated for everyone to have a chance.

By the way, it’s not only cushions we are making this month. See the booking page for other class information (through the blue button below).
